#13 - Amphora XIII in Smokey Oak

Amphora in our Smoke finished Oak that has been selectively charred and eroded by fire before brushing back to reveal the intricate texture of the grain. The piece is then subtly polished before rinsing in a lime solution and being washed. It is then coated in a UV protective Danish Oil and buffed with Renaissance wax before a thorough burnishing with a very stiff brush to create a rich textured surface. Finally any natural fissures and imperfections are celebrated through mending with waxed cotton stitch-work.

For the first Studio collection of the year; ’Amphorae’ inspired by ancient Grecian water vessels, we decided to play with a pared back and playful yet limited run of forms, each piece a unique iteration of our classic Amphora. We wanted to show how you can work within relatively limited parameters to create a diverse family of works that are all created within a distinct rule set.
