#16 - Oak Bowl with Smoke Patina

A bowl that took inspiration from our much larger Etruscan form but proportionally much shallower to the point that it became a bowl as opposed to a vessel per se. We don’t make many simpler bowls these days but seeing as this collection is a celebration of the first five years of the studio it seemed appropriate to include some classics.

A subtle evolution on the darker patinas we've been continuously refining over the last few years. A concoction that involves deep charring, a rather labour intensive sanding and polishing process, treatment with lime and then treatment with oil and wax before a final burnishing that gives the surface a wonderful and rather mysterious depth.
