Whilst our Annulus vessel doesn’t reference a specific ancient form it does have elements of historic vessels but reinvented in a contemporary context. The lower half of the vessel echoes the base of a magnificent Roman bowl we discovered whereas the top half of the vessel is a more open echo of the lower halves curves. We choose the name ‘Annulus’ due to the form having a ring-like band around the vessel, similar to certain planetary forms. Whilst quite a challenging form to turn we have fallen in love with its distinguished and complex curves.

A revisit to the charred surfaces we have produced as a studio over the years but with a more refined approach to the surface treatment. The grain has been meticulously cleaned out after charring the surface before sanding and polishing with a very fine grit and treating with Danish oil and buffing with wax.

PRODUCT CARE

Our works are intended as sculptural and artistic works and are not suitable for use with water or in wet conditions.

These vessels have been finished with a UV protective danish oil as well as a very fine microcrystalline wax that’s then been buffed to give it a subtle polish.

We recommend cleaning and dusting your vessel with a stiff clean brush, (we tend to use a small nail brush or something of the sort) not only will this help to clean anything out of the textured grain but also serve to further buff the finish underneath. If absolutely necessary use a lint free damp cloth to rub the surface and then dry it off and buff it with a brush in the manner mentioned above.
