#3 - Amphora III in Charred Oak

Amphora in blackened Oak that has been heavily charred and eroded by fire then brushed back to reveal the intricate texture of the grain. The piece is then washed and subtly polished before coating in a UV protective Danish Oil and buffed with Renaissance wax and a thorough burnishing with a stiff brush to create a rich textured surface. Finally any natural fissures and imperfections are celebrated through mending with waxed cotton stitch-work.

For the first Studio collection of the year; ’Amphorae’ inspired by ancient Grecian water vessels, we decided to play with a pared back and playful yet limited run of forms, each piece a unique iteration of our classic Amphora. We wanted to show how you can work within relatively limited parameters to create a diverse family of works that are all created within a distinct rule set.
