We are delighted to be featured in Workwear by Merchant & Mills, photographed in our Lewes workshop as part of its celebration of makers and the clothes they live and work in. The feature explores our partnership, our individual routes into woodturning and the shared approach behind Ash & Plumb: creating expressive objects through an instinctive dialogue with material. Seeing our practice through Merchant & Mills’ lens felt especially fitting, with the same attention to utility, texture and honest construction running through both our work and theirs.

For the feature, we were invited to choose clothing from across the Merchant & Mills collection, building two distinct sets of workwear through an exploratory process of pairing cloth, colour and pattern. From hard-wearing canvas and Japanese wool to linen, tweed and seersucker, the resulting clothes balance practicality with character and feel entirely at home in the workshop.
